Watch care at a workbench

Why Nathira

Fewer watches. More attention to each one.

Here is what we offer — and how it compares with the more common approach.

Core Advantages

What you can count on

Each of these is the result of deliberate choices about how we operate — not marketing language.

Experienced hands

Our lead watchmaker has worked with mechanical and quartz timepieces for over eighteen years, including movements requiring dial-level refinishing.

Agreed cost, no surprises

We state the price before any work begins and do not add to it without calling you first. What you agree to is what you pay.

A considered pace

We limit how many watches we take in each week so that no piece is rushed. Work done at a thoughtful pace produces better outcomes.

Plain-language communication

We explain what we find and what we intend to do without technical jargon. You understand the work before it happens.

Respect for original character

We discuss preservation versus restoration openly. Patina is not treated as a problem to be solved unless you want it to be.

Condition record before we start

Every watch is photographed from multiple angles when it arrives. This record is shared with you and kept for your file.

Expertise

Years of focused experience

Dial refinishing is a discipline that calls for a developed eye and a steady approach. The same is true for matching patina on aged dials, or selecting a strap that suits a particular case shape. These things come from time spent looking at and handling many watches — not from a six-month course.

  • 18+ years with mechanical and quartz movements
  • Specialisation in dial surface assessment and treatment
  • Working knowledge of vintage and modern references

In practice

When you bring a watch in for dial refinishing, Prasert examines the surface under magnification and natural light before forming any view. He then describes what he sees and discusses what intervention, if any, would be appropriate. He does not assume that all refinishing is desirable.

In practice

When you visit for strap fitting, Chaiya will measure the lug width before suggesting anything. He keeps samples on hand and can describe the feel and wear of different materials honestly, including the ones he would not personally choose for your watch.

Service

Unhurried, personal attention

Our workshop is small by design. We do not operate a ticketing queue or a fast-turnaround model. When you visit, someone takes time to sit with you and the watch — to look at it together and have a real conversation about what you need.

  • One point of contact throughout the process
  • Updates provided if anything changes during work
  • No pressure to add services you did not ask about

Value

Honest pricing, stated upfront

Our service prices are fixed and stated on the website. When you bring a watch in, we confirm the applicable fee before starting. If additional complexity emerges, we contact you and explain — we do not proceed and invoice later.

  • Fixed service fees for each offering
  • No hidden assessment or handling charges
  • Payment on collection, not upfront

Current pricing

  • Dial Refinishing฿5,800
  • Strap Fitting & Sourcing฿1,700
  • Appraisal & Documentation฿3,300

Comparison

A different kind of service

We are not suggesting that other workshops do poor work. We are simply describing what we have chosen to do differently.

Typical approach

  • Cost confirmed after work is done or partway through
  • High volume throughput, limited individual time
  • Dial refinishing defaults to full strip and repaint
  • Generic strap suggestions not tailored to the watch
  • Appraisal documents use standard templates
  • No photo record taken on intake

Nathira's approach

  • Price agreed before work begins — no revisions without your authorisation
  • Limited intake per week — each watch gets proper time
  • Dial treatment discussed first — we may recommend minimal intervention
  • Strap selection based on lug width and case style
  • Appraisal written specifically for your watch, in plain language
  • Multi-angle photographs taken and shared on intake

What Sets Us Apart

Distinctive features of Nathira

We sometimes recommend doing less

When a watch arrives for dial refinishing, we sometimes advise that the current surface — even if worn — is worth keeping. This is unusual. Most workshops have a financial incentive to recommend more work, not less.

Appraisal reports accepted by insurers

Our written assessments follow a format that has been accepted by insurance providers for personal property cover. Nattaya ensures that the language is precise and the document is complete before it leaves the workshop.

Sourcing for uncommon specifications

Chaiya maintains supplier relationships across Thailand and abroad, allowing us to source straps for watches with non-standard lug widths or unusual case shapes that most strap retailers do not stock for.

Walk-in welcome, no queue

We do not operate a numbered system or ask you to wait in a queue. If you walk in and the workshop is not at capacity, someone will sit with you and the watch straight away.
